Loving God Back: How to Walk With God Like Enoch

By Penny

Listen instead of read

“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” , Deuteronomy 6:5

Jesus said that all the commandments hang on two commands:

  1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
  2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

That means the first question is not merely, “Do you know about God?”

The deeper question is:

ARE YOU LOVING GOD BACK?

God loved you before you could perform, achieve, pray, preach, or understand. He saw you before the womb. He pursued you through Jesus Christ. He welcomed you into Sonship.

Now what will you do with that love?

Will you check in with God once a year? Once a month? Once a week? Or will you learn to recognize His presence whenever you receive a pause in your day?

This is the heart of HSMS, Loving God Back: receiving the love of God and returning it through relationship, attention, gratitude, obedience, and love for people.

The Green-Light and Red-Light Rhythm

A red light can become a reminder.

Your hands are safely off the phone. The car is stopped. The noise of the day briefly becomes quiet.

That pause can become a simple prayer:

“Father, thank You for being with me. Jesus, lead me. Holy Spirit, help me love well in the next moment.”

A green light can become another reminder:

“Lord, thank You for the way ahead. Help me move with wisdom, peace, and obedience.”

Repeated green lights may feel like a personal metaphor for flowing with God, moving in a direction where obstacles are clearing and your steps are becoming more aligned.

But discernment matters. A traffic signal is not a guaranteed supernatural message, and green lights are not a replacement for Scripture, wise counsel, prayer, or responsible decision-making.

The point is not to turn traffic into fortune-telling.

The point is to turn ordinary moments into RELATIONAL CHECK-IN POINTS WITH GOD.

Are you getting pauses? Use them.
Are you moving forward? Thank Him.
Are you stopped? Listen.
Are you uncertain? Seek wisdom.

Enoch: A Man Who Walked With God

Genesis gives us one of the most mysterious summaries in the Bible:

“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” , Genesis 5:24, KJV

Hebrews adds:

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death… for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” , Hebrews 11:5, KJV

Enoch did not merely know facts about God. He walked with God.

That means his faith was not confined to a weekly gathering or a religious appointment. His relationship with God shaped his decisions, his direction, his identity, and his daily life.

We should not read Enoch as a promise that believers can escape every earthly responsibility. We are called to live faithfully in families, workplaces, communities, and assignments. Enoch’s example is about continuous fellowship, not neglecting the world God has entrusted to us.

The question is not, “Can I disappear from earth like Enoch?”

The question is:

“Can I become so aware of God’s presence that I practice walking with Him everywhere?”

Seven Practices for Loving God Back

1. Begin the morning with surrender

Before your schedule begins, give God your attention.

Say:

“Lord, this day belongs to You. My body, mind, relationships, work, and decisions are available to You.”

This is not about earning acceptance. You begin from acceptance. Surrender is your response to the love already given.

2. Create pause-and-pray moments

Use natural pauses:

  • Red lights
  • Waiting rooms
  • Elevator rides
  • Coffee brewing
  • Walking from one room to another
  • Moments before answering an email
  • The few seconds before entering your home

These are not interruptions to your spiritual life. They can become the place where your spiritual life becomes practical.

3. Practice gratitude

Gratitude turns your attention from scarcity to the character of God.

Thank Him for something specific:

  • A person
  • A provision
  • A second chance
  • A lesson
  • A door that closed
  • Strength to continue
  • The gift of salvation

SEE IT: Notice His goodness.
SAY IT: Thank Him specifically.
LIVE IT: Let gratitude shape your response.

4. Meditate on Scripture

The Torah, the Prophets, the Gospels, the Epistles, Hebrews, Ephesians, and the whole counsel of Scripture point us toward knowing God and walking in His ways.

Do not only ask, “What information is in this passage?”

Ask:

  • What does this reveal about God?
  • What does this reveal about my identity?
  • What response of love is appropriate?
  • Is there something to believe, obey, confess, or share?

Hebrews 4:12 teaches that the Word of God discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart. It helps separate what is merely emotional, impulsive, or self-protective from what is aligned with the Spirit.

5. Test the intersecting thought

Sometimes a thought crosses your normal stream of thinking. It may bring a gentle nudge to encourage someone, apologize, give, wait, speak, or serve. We can call this an INTERSECTING THOUGHT.

But do not accept every thought automatically.

Test it by its fruit.

Thoughts that steal, kill, destroy, accuse, enslave, and drive you into shame, guilt, or fear are not the fruit of God’s loving leadership.

Thoughts that align with Scripture and produce the Fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, deserve prayerful consideration.

God may bring loving conviction. Conviction leads toward repentance and restoration. Shame declares that you are beyond restoration.

DISCERN THE FRUIT. THEN OBEY WITH WISDOM.

6. Love the person in front of you

Jesus joined love for God and love for your neighbor so tightly that we cannot separate them.

Your neighbor may be:

  • A family member who needs patience
  • A coworker who feels overlooked
  • A stranger who needs practical help
  • Someone who offended you
  • A person whose worldview differs from yours
  • A believer who needs encouragement

Ministry is not first a platform. It is presence.

Before you become visible to crowds, become faithful with the person in front of you.

7. End the day with reflection and rest

At night, ask God:

  • Where did I notice Your presence?
  • Where did I resist love?
  • Whom did I serve?
  • What do I need to confess?
  • What do I need to release?
  • What am I carrying that You never asked me to carry?

Then receive forgiveness and rest.

Sabbath rhythms remind us that we are not machines. We are sons and daughters. We do not work to become loved. We work from love.

Ministry Flows From Relationship

The Priesthood of All Believers is not a performance ladder. King-Priest-Prophet-Apostle ministry flows from Sonship.

  • As Kings, we steward provision and pursue godly justice.
  • As Priests, we reconcile people to God and nurture them in identity.
  • As Prophets, we call out the gold in others.
  • As Apostles, we make disciples and build reproducing communities.

But the order matters:

RELATIONSHIP FIRST. MINISTRY SECOND.

If you attempt ministry without intimacy, activity becomes performance. If you receive the Father’s love and love Him back, ministry becomes overflow.

This is why the Melchizedek Ministries mission begins with two steps:

  1. Validate identity, how God saw you before the womb.
  2. Give permission and encouragement to move into ministry.

The implementation is:

Step 1: Receive a Birth Sky Message through Christological Astronomy and the Maji methodology to find the “Promised One” in your own life.

Step 2: Ramp up ministry, be Found, Funded with endowments, Staffed with volunteers, Supported by intercessors, Thrive, Call others up, and Function in the Order of Melchizedek.

Habakkuk 2:2 says:

“Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”

You need relationship before strategy. Then relationship gives strategy its life.

Eternity Begins With Love

This life is a PRACTICE ROUND FOR LIVING IN ETERNITY WITH THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE.

What are you practicing?

Are you practicing love, forgiveness, gratitude, worship, and obedience? Or are you practicing isolation, resentment, self-rule, and resistance to every invitation from God?

If the thought of being with God forever troubles you, do not hide from the question. Bring it honestly to Him.

God is love, and eternity with Him is not an eternity of empty religious performance. Through Jesus, it is an invitation into reconciliation, belonging, holiness, joy, and communion.

Hell should not be discussed casually or used to claim certainty about another person’s destiny. Scripture presents it as fearful separation from God and the absence of the life and love found in Him. Human beings are responsible for their response, but God’s invitation remains open through Jesus Christ.

Lukewarmness can become a BULLET TRAIN TO HELL when a person continually refuses truth, love, repentance, and grace, not because God delights in condemnation, but because persistent rejection has consequences.

So answer honestly. Receive the invitation. Turn toward Love.

If You Feel Hopeless

Have you made a mess of your life through sin? Are you carrying regret from years ago? You are not disqualified from returning to God.

May the Lord restore the years the locust have stolen. May everyone that's stolen from you pay back 7 times what was stolen, even right now,

Receive that as a prayer of biblical hope, not as a guaranteed financial promise. God restores in His wisdom, often through forgiveness, healing, changed relationships, renewed purpose, and faithful steps forward.

You are not your worst decision. Jesus is still calling you home.

Conclusion: Walk With Him Today

You do not have to wait for a dramatic spiritual moment.

Start at the next pause.

At the next red light, remember His presence. At the next green light, thank Him for the road ahead. At the next difficult conversation, choose love. At the next Scripture passage, listen for transformation.

SEE ONE. DO ONE. TEACH ONE.

See someone walk with God. Practice it yourself. Teach your family to build their own walls of peace and purpose through wise stewardship and daily fellowship. For personal financial planning that supports household purpose and stewardship, explore Quivergy Personal.

And if you are ready to ask Jesus to save you:

“Would you like to ask Jesus into your heart right now? Yes? Or no?”

When you say yes to Jesus, you are saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit at that exact moment. You may also grow in understanding and experience through ongoing discipleship, but salvation is not postponed until you become perfect.

A Prayer to Receive Jesus

Stuart’s Standard Prayer of Salvation

Father God, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. I confess that I am a sinner and that I need a Savior. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried, and rose again. I repent of my sins and turn to You. Jesus, I ask You to forgive me, save me, and become Lord of my life. I receive Your forgiveness, Your salvation, and Your Holy Spirit. I believe that, at this moment of salvation, I am baptized in the Holy Spirit. Help me follow You, love You, and obey You all my days. In Jesus’ name, amen.

If that prayer came from your heart, do not shrink back. Begin walking with Jesus boldly, in Scripture, in prayer, and in fellowship with other believers.

If, however, you are in a place where you are believing lies about yourself, feeling worthless, broken, depressed, or hopeless, receive the following as a specific pastoral word of comfort and encouragement. It is not being declared indiscriminately over every reader, but offered to the person who needs mercy, truth, and hope in this moment.

A Private Word for the Person Who Feels Worthless or Broken

My Son, My Daughter, You are Accepted, not rejected. You are good enough, and I Love you.
I am proud of you, and you do it right.
I'm dancing over you day and night!
